We Need Your Help and Support

For over a year we have provided a blog and a website to inform and educate the citizens of Winchester to the goings on in our town. We have received many comments, emails and letters; some encouraging us in our efforts, some voicing thanks and some .. well let's just say some people aren't happy about what they see here and on our our Home Pages. We'd like to expand our Home Page to include other topics and information and provide more service to the citizens of Winchester, like notices about upcoming events, yard sales, items for sale, and other news and would like your opinions and ideas. Of course all of this will take a little more effort and some increased spending for more bandwidth and hosting fees. To accomplish this and make it worthwhile, we'd need your support and some help with the extra fees. If you'd like to help out, send your ideas to our email and a small cash donation ( even $1.00 will help ) to:

Thank you all for your continued support

I think the selectmen are getting better, the budget committee is looking good, but we still need this web site. The people running this site have taken a lot of heat when the rest of us don't even dare give our name, so keep your eyes open, report what you see and sent these people a couple of bucks.

Yes, thank you for posting this site. We find it informative and a great platform for finding out the "real" news (and not so real) - so my suggestion is to keep at least one new topic every week. Several a week would be better. Perhaps you can get several people to do weekly updates on certain subjects. Whether it's updates on board meetings, notices, etc.

We'll send some money today! the pocket book is tight, but it is worth a few extra bucks (for the sheer entertainment value).

Thanks again!

Winchester informer, it has been almost 4 days and 3 responded, 2 people said they will send money; one gave you advice to get it free somewhere. After all the hours of hard work you have done to set it up. Like you can cut and paste it somewhere else.

Your feeding right into what the opposition wants to hear, NO ONE CARES! If people can not give up the price of a 6 pack to see you continue, we will be run by these monkeys at the town hall till the town is bankrupted. I really feel sorry for the residents of Winchester who can not afford to move. I am making plans to leave it all behind. This way people can have their beer and drink it too.

Count me in too.

This is an important site. It's information we all need to have. Let's be supportive. I'm in.

To the poster A fool .. Sorry to hear that you have given up and are making plans to move out of town; unfortunately most people can not do that and why should they? The more people that can see what's wrong with this town and are willing to band together and attempt to make the necessary changes to better the town at least show that they care enough to try. That only a couple of visitors have pledged to send a donation to help out is better than none and I'm sure there are those that read here and never comment and that more than a few will send us a donation. If what we post here promotes discussion and leads to even a small change for the better and ends up helping just one person; than it is well worth the effort. Besides, I don't have any liking for self serving, arrogant public servants that live off the sweat and equity of others and treat people like second class citizens.

C'mon folks, let's help these fine people who have put themselves in a position to be ostracized by the town for their efforts to provide us information and facts as to the unfairness and gross misconduct of our town officials. A few bucks isn't going to hurt anyone and it will keep the information coming for all of us to make informed decisions

Informer(s) I have sent you a small donation and hope that you all keep this site going for all of us. I wish I had more to give but just like many others things are really tough on the Mrs and me right now. Maybe the good folks in this town and there are lots of them, will finally see what's going on and band together to turn this town around.
I challenge each and every person in town to match my donation and help these fine folks to continue their efforts to help us all.

New Era said...

Looking at the BOS minutes of 8/26 where our road agent doesn't like his dept to be scrutinized by the towns residents, Mr Puffer is over worked, and selectman Gardner thinks its OK to take an hour and a half for lunch. Lets give hwy an hour and a half for lunch, and even Dale will have to admit that sense the Informer came on line its changed the way he runs his dept. Its a new era and from town to state to federal people are watching how there tax dollars are being used, so get over to it and run your depts. like you would if it was your business and the Informer can tell what a good job you are doing.I for one hope the Informer is here to stay.

THE TIME IS NOW said...

I couldn't agree more, the word is the new school principle is doing a great job[quote from a teacher] holding our feet to the fire, most town employees are at work on time[guess one has a special deal], and hwys not standing around when people head to the recycle.I agree if hwy needs more time give it to them, they can go home a little later. You can't continue to stretch a half hour in to an hour or an hour and a half.Police dept is out of control if we cant fix the state will. The employees in Winchester have some good jobs and the ones the get it will be around for a long time. IT appears that Mr, Puffer doesn't get it and he thinks the selectmen are stupid, we will see about that.

Thanks Informer said...

What people like Dale don't get is if we didn't have the informer he would get to see more comments in the local papers, the days of non informed votes is a thing of the past. Good Job Informer

This website is a great service for the community and it is an important link to the truth for the town.

Whether it is to ensure accountability from the towns fathers or it is to bring to light problems or activities that may need to be discussed together as a community as to what is in the best interest, it is a vital link.

Without this website, much of what is on it today would have been heard by only a few.

Without this website, accountability would be that much harder to achieve.

Without this website many people in town would not know what is going on without their knowledge.

This website has brought people together, has started discussions, has been a driving force and a sounding board in which people can safely voice an opinion, question a policy, ask for fairness and ask for the truth.

In order to maintain this site and to keep it going because of the tremendous response and growth of the Winchester Informer, the Winchester Informer is in desperate need of donations.

These donations would be used for upgrades that are needed, such as buying more web space to store this information on and to be able to expand the information as it becomes available.

This additional space would allow for more links, pictures and sounds to be posted. It would allow for continued budget and meeting minutes links to grow so that if research needs to be done on something from 2 years ago, we have the information.

It will allow for the expansion of information and links to forms and publications when they become available.

These donations would be used to help offset the costs of running this site and in no way pays for the countless hours of time that are donated to keep this site monitored and running.

I am not the owner of the site but, I recently met with someone who explained to me in great detail just exactly what it takes to run a site like this and what this site needs to keep it going.

I was so impressed by the dedication for a forum that I felt I needed to speak on behalf of the Winchester Informer, Winchester’s Informer made for the people and by the people.

I ask everyone out there to please make a donation of any kind no matter how small or large, if at all possible to ensure that this site is able to continue to give to us a forum to get information, share information and question information.

Do you still think only 3 people are reading the informer?

What people with your mindset fail to see sometimes is that people tend to like to get there feet wet first then jump into the water.

There had been a very quiet group who were observing but not necessarily participating.

That doesn't mean we weren't listening and reading.

Heck, i bet there is more then 3 people in the town hall checking out the informer daily.Scrutiny is new to these people and they don't like it. GO INFORMER

From what I've been reading Mr. Puffer may be correct.
