Town Administrator Bob Gray Resigns

We've received word that Bob has turned in his resignation effective October 1st.
Bob cites personal reasons for his leaving and that he had been contemplating this move for some time.
This is surely a huge loss for the town as Bob is well like, highly respected and always a pleasure to talk with no matter what the subject. With the loss of Ellen Cole and now with Bob turning in his resignation, the face of Winchester is most definitely changing. Is there something going on behind the scenes that we all need to know about ?

For many years Bob has been a tremendous assest to this town! His unflappable disposition and friendly personality is exactly what the "doctor" ordered. I for one am very depressed about the news.

Thank you, Bob, for all of your hard work and dedication to this town. All of your time and labor has been dually noted and appreciated.

Best wishes in all of your future endeavors. Here's wishing you and your family good health and success!

This is really a shame. Bob is very informative and easy to speak with. I'm sorry we are losing him. Thank you Bob for all your hard work.

re: Bob

Kim, you are absolutely correct. Bob has been all that you say and more, and still is. This news is devastating.

Bob, go in peace and know that you have been loved here, and will be greatly missed.

I don't blame him said...

Bob is a great guy and he probably doesn't want to go down with a sinking ship. You've got a police dept. in shambles, some on the hwy dept committing a felony on Co. time, and Leroy and co that's going to cost us plenty. Employees that dance to there own tune, and selectmen that want to spend us to the poor farm.

If you had to pick five bosses you would enjoy working for - would any of them be ones the you would want to work for? Hell NO!

I think the issue is if you owned a business, how many of our dept. heads or employees would you want to employ. We have a few, but dam few, but i would have to say its human nature to only do what is required to keep your job and our people in charge don't require much.

Bob, your integrity is what got in your way and became your problem. People who are truly trying to make things better for the majority are not welcomed in this town by any of the ones who rule.

The ones that rule are very small people, with small ideas, small goals, and seem to have very little sense of what is right and what is wrong in this town. They have egos to big and pride that swallows them up so much so that they cannot even try to admit they have done something wrong.

It must have been very difficult for you at times to have to work under these conditions for as long as you did, when integrity, fair play and honesty are your most respected traits from those of us who have had requests and guidance from you.

We'd not be surprised to hear that the reasons for you leaving is more likely that you can not be effective in your position without numerous road blocks put up and that when you try to correct things you are asked to lie, mislead or ignore the truth and are not able to do what is honorable.

Thank you for your service, the experiences will likely open many doors for you, ones that will lead to respectability and honor for all that you end doing.

Thank you again for your service and good luck to you and your family in the future.

Inmates all to often run the asylum and get their friends elected to office and then who goes the TA. You would be surprised how often this happens. Why do you think the average life of a TA used to be 3-5 years but it is now more like 1-3! Most times the TA never is the boss its the crusty old employee whose been there the longest. I submitted comments years ago. Might I suggest a full blown enema at Town Hall

Good Afternoon Blog,
I would like to say that even though we will miss Bob he is doing the right thing. It's nice to know that family comes first with him. Thanks for the great job Bob. I hope that things work out well for you.

OK-Winchester step up and follow his lead and take care of your families. Enough said.

Have a great day!

I think they should give the job to Roberta, she could use part of her pay to pay back property taxes. That would leave a spot on the select board for the next vote getter, Bob Davis. Its not the law that the next person gets the job, but its been past practice in Winchester and I believe it would hold up in court. I also believe Roberta could do a good job.
