Town's Ambulance Taken Out Of State

Over the weekend reports came in that the Town of Winchester's new ambulance had been used privately and taken out of state and as of today was still out of service. We held off putting any comments on the blog until this could be confirmed by several sources. This conduct, though understandable to a certain degree is unacceptable and was downright illegal. This equipment belongs to the town, not certain individuals who feel their needs exceed those they serve.
Just think of the legal ramifications if this vehicle had been involved in an accident out of state or if the necessity had arisen that it had been needed here and someone died as a result of it not being available? This conduct should result in the immediate resignation of the party or partys responsible and the pursuit of legal action to ensure this does not ever happen again. What's next, maybe renting out firetrucks for private parties with bonfires and fireworks or highway equipment to plow driveways or grade private lots?
This is just the type of thing that is typical in this town when we have people in power who feel they can do whatever they want with no consequences for their actions.

If you don't think the GOOD OL BOY NETWORK is alive and well, ask the selectmen or someone from the ambulance dept. where the ambulance is for the next couple of days. If the talk on the street is anywhere near true, ambulance rides for the citizens of Winchester just got a lot less expensive.

Back to the GOOD OL BOY Ambulance thing, looks like with this new town policy, anyone who needs a ride and can buy fuel is all set. Will have to check and see if we can pool our gas money and maybe go to a ball game or fox wood.

Apparently our ambulance took the sick wife of a former resident of Winchester to the Carolina's. The family apparently paid for fuel and food. Our ambulance dept is over budget and a trip like this will cost the taxpayers because of the miles and wear and tear. This is the kind of service that Diluzio offers, and the Ambulance dept could have taken donations at the pickle fest or anywhere else and probably would have gotten a discount from Diluzio. This sets a precedent that the Ambulance dept may not be able to live with in the future, plus the fact that if we can have this vehicle out of service for this long, do we really need two. Last but not least-was this legal?

I heard Sherm Tedford was behind all of this and gave the okay, is this true? if so Sherm you need to pack up your stuff at town hall and resign immediately. This time you screwed up bigtime

Many people have donated a lot of money to support the Winchester Ambulance Dept. over the years. I'm sure that the money was meant to purchase equipment for the emergency needs in Winchester, not for private transportation. Let's support the budget committee whole heartedly when they come down on this fiasco like a ton of bricks. It's time to trim some budgets if this sort of thing is going on. Get the facts and then let them have. If Tedford is behind it as a selectman, then he needs to come clean and get out.

This is just like the situation that occurred last year with our new firetruck being driven to Vermont to fill a friend of Barry Kellom's swimming pool under the guise of a "training mission". Then another issue is using a firetruck to fill the water tanks on campers over race weekends. Where does all the brown water go when they refill these tanks? Is the town being compensated for the wear and tear on the trucks, the cost fuel and the cost water delivered? Just who authorized the use of one of OUR firetrucks for this service?

Can anyone supply evidence or documentation about these subjects. If it is true something needs to be done. But there has been way to much rumors on this site. Can you post some evidence please so we can deal with this
properly.

Just like the OUTRAGE with the fire trucks, who pays for the wear and tear on the police cruisers when our offices are making the big bucks on detail work? As for clarification on the Ambulance being out of town, just call the town hall, I don't think they will deny it, and it would be interesting to hear how they justified there decision to OK the trip.

Ambulance left fri. 9/30, and returned Sunday. Diluzio covered for Winchester Fri morning, because presumably the attendants were sleeping getting ready for the trip.

If all of us were Sherm Tedfords sister we would get a free ride to if you do some research the person that went North Carolina was in deed Tedfords Sister Ray Montgomery was the person who set this up to have his wife transported to North Carolina and if you do the research Rays wife is Shermans sister

I would doubt that Sherm had anything to do with it, although some of the people involved my have want to be looked on kindly by the select board. Sherm or no Sherm, this starts a new policy that will cost the ambulance dept. dearly.

Has anyone called the Attorney General's office on the legality of taking a town ambulance out of state? How can that be allowed when it serves the town???? It is not an ambulance for hire like a private company!!! Love to see the lawsuits if someone lost their life that day because a town ambulance was taking a selectman's sister to the Carolina's. So what if Diluzzio's was covering?? This town gets more and more ridiculous by the minute.

Maybe before we get all upset and burn the town down has anyone done any research if this is a normal situation that other towns/ambulance depts do? I have heard in the past about people paying for ambulance transportation and I'm sure this wasn't done for free. do we have 2 ambulances? did this help add money to our ambulance dept? We really need to see more facts on this site before people get the torches out.

Who cares if those involved paid for anything. It's the fact this piece of town equipment owned by the taxpayers of this town was taken out of service for a personal trip is outrageous. NO ONE has the authority to authorize something like this and I don't care who they are and what the reasons were. There are private services for these kinds of things, you don't take a town ambulance out of town or out of state period. All involved should be fired on the spot and criminal charges should be filed. This is paramount to stealing town property and anyone with half a brain should be outraged over this. Just who do these people think they are for godsakes? Think they'll let me "borrow" a town dump truck and the grader? I'll pay for the fuel and buy the drivers some lunch, I need to level my driveway.

Diluzio ? said...

Have Diluzio come up with a plan to house a vehicle and attendants that could survive Winchester,Swanzey, Richmond and Hinsdale and then we wouldn't have this kind of problem. They come to town most every time our ambulance go out anyway and many times they beat us to the scene. Not to mention its going to be hard to collect anything but gas money from anyone that uses the service from here on out.

Would be interesting to know what the mileage on this trip was, and how many miles to the gas gallon the vehicle gets and how that was compensated. Not to mention the wear and tear on the vehicle...and, how many attendants and what were they paid? Also, how long the vehicle was out of service to the town of Winchester..Is the ambulance dept. or the town liability insured for this type of long distance non-emergency service?

The attendants on the ambulance trip to North Carolina were Maryann Platz, Chris Platz, Kenny Smith, Mr. Montgomery's and his mistress/landlord. Yes folks, his mistress.Imagine how this looks, Montgomery's landlord is loosing her home and she shacks up with her tennant for a free ride to North Carolina while her tennant's wife is slowly passing away and under Hospice care. Talk about not waiting until a body is cold. By the way, the ailing woman is Sherman Tedford's sister. Tedford, your are nothing more than a corrupt, uneducated, ignorant errand boy/gopher for Johnny Walloc. By the way Tedford, how much money did you and your sidekick Ken Gardner get paid for doing all the repair work at Johnnie's place? You spent most of the summer fixing his fence, working on his yard and lord knows what else. Tedford, you are nothing more than a lowlife thief and looser who was lucky enough to get a pension. Maybe this is why Phillips and Roberts are still employed, they have a corrupt selectman (I use this term loosely)who is dishonest and crooked just like he is! Talk about " peas in a pod".

By the way folks...if you wonder what Kenny Smith and Gene Parks favorite beverage is, its motor oil. They have to drink it,it keeps their motor mouths running. If you want to know more about the North Carolina ambulance excursion ask Smith and Parks. They are free with their information. Hell, Smith was excited about going to NC.

Now for more news:

Scott Hurley is pushing to get a K-9 for the police dept. This is not necessary for such a small town. In order for a K-9 to be effective in your town you will need another officer on duty with the K-9. Also, why doesn't Hinsdsal or Swanzey have a K-9? The answer: Too costly (specially equipped vehicle, housing for the dog,vet bills, just to mention a few)& high liability. Furthermore,Scott Hurley lives at least 1 1/2 hours away (on a good day)in Derry, NH. This isn't practical! Any K-9 officer needs to live minutes away or in the community he serves. Also, when he does work what happens to Winchester when he asked to assist another town? Who will cover or take calls in Winchester? Maintaining a K-9 is time consuming and requires the officer/handler to constantly train with the dog which will equate to a great deal of overtime in training and for call outs. Hurley will present to the town that the K-9 will com from a military connection with little or no cost to the town. This BS. Nix the dog and tell Hurley to patrol the streets of Winchester instead of looking for a free ride of doing nothing because he is the K-9 officer. If any one is interested in information on the practicality and cost of a K-9 program, make your request on this blog with an address and arrangements can be made to provide such information. Not to worry folks, the information will come from a highly regarded and respected source. Other news: Roberts purchased a cherry wood desk for his office and a kitchenette for the PD. Audit the dept folks and account for every piece of paper, office furniture equipment. Accountability is the key.

Dishonest? Corrupt? How much of the cash money or any money for that mtter, that’s passed into your hands Tedford has been reported on the income tax return? You know the place where we report income and pay taxes. Maybe the IRS needs a phone call.

The way I hear it, if some of the S--- ever came out that Sherm and his former boss pulled he would lose his pension.

Isn't there a toll free phone number to turn in tax cheats, anyone know what it is?

Curious? Nothing more being said on this outrageous issue? Has it been forgotten as an "older post"?
