Experimenting with new forum for discussions

We'll be opening a new site soon, one where everyone will have to register to take part in any discussions. Unlike this blog, which will remain open, the new site will have no anonymous option. You will have the option of posting under your own name or choosing a nickname; however a valid email address will be required to receive notifications from us and to validate your membership. This will keep out spammers, spiders and other nefarious characters and protect everyone from malicious web surfers who install Trojans and viruses in pictures and private messages. The new Forum will have many new features and allow you the freedom to post pictures with your comments if you so desire. It will be open to everyone and we invite the CAST and WGYB organizations to join and will provide a separate section for them to post their news and upcoming events to better inform all of the citizens of Winchester. We hope you all will take part in helping us unite the people of Winchester and work to solve the many issues our town has.

Anyone wishing to register can go ahead and do so. The site is a work in progress, there are some forums set up and more coming. We welcome your input and suggestions to make this a community discussion site for everyone.

I have signed up but need to know where I should post a general question. I am concerned that there is a person working with children at the ELMM center who has anger managment issues. There was a reply on the blog that said the person was still there even though the parents were concerned. How can we make this person realizd that the children are more important than his/her ego?

This is asking this person to make the right decision.
Thanks blog. This is an important issue for the town. Children's safety and the reputation of the ELMM center.

To anonymous asking where to post on the new site;

Click on the FORUMS tab in the left column. When the new page loads, click on General Discussions and post your comments or question there.

re: new web site

I have tried several times and in several different ways, ie: copy and paste, and typing in the address given for the new site and am NOT able to get to it. Keep getting "no results found".. How to please?

Hmmm, send us an email and we'll send you a direct link right to the site. I don't know what the issue is; but we'll do whatever we can to help you get there.

Probably should shut off your spam blocker.

I think having a new blog or web site is a mistake and only confuses people.. Your not going to please the opposition. They are set on taking this site down. Let the Parkhurst and Gus Ruth clan cry a river while we rat-a-tat- on their heads.

Bob, time and time again we've heard people complain that there's no integrity on this blog because of the anonymous option and that we should get rid of it and make people sign their names to their comments. We feel that this is just another attempt to hinder people from expressing their opinions and concerns and a vague attempt to find out who is speaking out. Instead of removing this option, we chose to open a site that requires registration and that will provide another sounding board for those willing to come forward and participate and perhaps form a Watchdog Group in the future to observe and report their findings and provide input for discussions. Let's just see how many people there are that care enough about our town to want to do something about the many issues mentioned here and put the ball squarely in the court of those naysayers that denounced the anonymous option. As stated, the site is open for registration and we welcome all.
