Even After Being Notified, Boards and Committees Ignore The Law

What does it take to get information to the public in a timely manner as required by law? Winchester's Town Clerk sent out a reminder to the following people to remind them of their duty  to provide minutes of their board's and committee's meetings within 5 days of said meetings and yet they continue to ignore him and the law, why? What compels public employees and appointees to act this way? Is it a lack of leadership or do we simply have people in a position that they simply don't belong?  Below we have attached the Town's "New Policy" regarding meeting minutes; something they should have adhered to long ago and still don't follow.

These are the only boards and committees listed on the town's website, why they removed the others is anyone's guess as well as why they are so woefully behind in providing information to the citizens of Winchester in a timely manner.

Why are we paying through taxation for a town website that isn't being maintained and updated in a timely manner?

Hi Informer,

The Town's "New Policy" doesn't show up on my computer - it just says, (image)...several times. ??

That's odd, have you tried refreshing the page? If that fails, copy and paste this link in your browsers navigation box to download a copy;

Big Deal Or Not said...

BOS meeting3/23,selectmen Fraser makes a motion to provide swimsuits for lifeguards.Have we done this in the past? I suppose in a town where money grows on trees, this is not a big deal.

Show up blank on mine too But that may be appropriate because I sit on one committee that turns in their minutes faithfully and she never posts them. The question is who is trying to make who look bad????

the Winchester Informer said...

Well that is very weird folks. We have checked with two different browsers, Internet Explorer ver. 9.0 and FireFox ver. 4.2 and the documents show up in both. Evidently it has something to do with a setting on your computers.

Try downloading a copy from the link that was posted.

The town buying swimsuits for lifeguards is a big deal, when the town beach is $1000. short on there budget.

"Those responsible should know that your childish moronic actions will not deter us from continuing to provide truthful honest information."

This is funnier than a Charlie Sheen stand up routine.

C'mon it's only money and besides Winchester has to keep up with the Jones, Rockefellers and every other Tom Dick and Harry these morons think they are going to impress.

Will they be like the disappearing highway crew pants?

Pretty bad that they are buying swimsuits. They just love spending money. How many picnic tables did they purchase last year at $2,000 each?

This nonsense comes from someone who constantly votes to approve spending couldn't afford to pay their property taxes year after year and eventually lost their home to foreclosure. Why did you people vote for such an irresponsible big spender?

just asking said...

I suppose if I was planning to spend the summer on the lake I would want every one looking good, or maybe we are just helping out a friend or relative like Dale used to do at hwy. some one in the town hall have a kid that needs a summer job?

In the past the town has threatened legal action to people behind in their property taxes. Just curious did they ever send letters to selectmen Fraser demanding she pay her property taxes to avoid legal action? I work hard for my money and pay my taxes and it makes me sick to see she wants to spend my hard earned money buying bathing suits for life guards. What is wrong with the towns people why do they keep voting for someone that doesn't have to pay the same taxes we have to???

Don't forget Gus getting a property tax abatement too!

I think the selectmen probably pays more because of the interest that gets tacked on to late taxes. I just cant understand why anyone would want someone who apparently cant manage her own finances managing yours. I also cant understand how knowing how hard it is to pay these taxes, you would vote in things like swimsuits.

what's next ? said...

Gotta laugh at all of this outrage over swimsuits, this is only the latest in a long line of wasteful spending at the town beach which is closed more than it is open cause of the water problems with raw sewage and blue algae. How about $2000. picnic table? Or the wasteful money spent on a pavilion with super expensive plumbing ot the skimming of a wall that wasn't made right in the first place and is falling apart from the inside out? On and on it goes and our taxes are the 4th highest in the whole state. Winchester, a town going nowhere spending money like it's water. Hope you voters are really happy with the fools you chose to manage your money, you deserve it all.

I dont recall seing a budget or line Item for the town beach, Doesnt it have a trust fund? and the minutes said the swinsuites were comeing from the interest on the checking account not tax money.

hocus pocus, where's waldo? said...

Look again or go ask, the beach is in the budget and they have already overspent. If there's interest in some bank account I for one would like to know where that money came from, who's name is on the account and under whose authority did this account get opened. Too many freaking bank accounts opened for these town dept's who is keeping track of town money?

Anonymous said...

The beach does have a trust fund

wants to know said...

Then why are we taxpayers footing most of the bills? Why aren't they using trust money for these things?

Pissed Off! said...

Read the Board of Selectman minutes from 3-23-11. 6th order of business....the town beach is going to be SHORT $1,000.00. Are they being fiscally responsible? Expending money on swimsuits?

The board agrees to overdraft the beach fund...
