just wondering why said...

Why is Dean Beaman running for the planning board? He was a hand picked alternate this year and only made a couple of meetings. If he had no interest in going to meetings as required of alternates, why run now?
Is this another ploy by Margaret to stack the board in her favor by getting Dean to run?

The town is in big trouble if Hill Beaman or Pasquarelli get on the board full time. All three are nothing more than whipping boys of Sharras who will vote for any business that comes along over the best interest of the town. Look at Hill's and Beaman's past records of voting, both approved the recent Van Dyke's mess, that cost the town thousands in legal fees and which the board eventually shut down for non-compliance; what a waste of taxpayer dollars and now Hill thinks the asphalt plant is a great benefit to the town, despite all of the health issues raised and conclusive evidence that property values will fall. Beaman also is in favor of this plant as he was openly applauding during hearings. We all know about Pasquarelli so nothing need be said; but if anyone needs reminding he's for both the asphalt plant and clean power coming into downtown as his statements at REDC meetings and his testimony before the planning board showed. Cast your votes wisely people or beware the consequences.

Doesn't pay a dime in taxes said...

Looks like Ed Lake is determined to stay in his "Section 8" housing deal.

Not only is his aunt, Linda, the chairman of the trustees - he now has his uncle, Hubey and live-in-lover, Donna, running for the Thayer Library board.

Free house, half of his utilities paid in exchange for putting up a flag, and turning on the lights twice a week.

What a rosey deal!

Winchester loves leaches, the town is full of them. There doesnt seem to be any stigma attached to the wont work crowd theses days. For most of the free rent crowd there are one to three extra people taking advantage of the taxpayer funded subsidy.Take a look at Keene, they are building subsidized housing as fast as they can, and then they wonder why people have time to demonstrate[smoke pot] on the town square. Its easy, they don't have to work, they live with there welfare mother or girlfriend.

After the school deliberative last night I sure as hell wont be voting for any incumbents. Save your money folks, your school board and voting teachers did one hell of a number on the towns taxpayers.

What did you expect, you should have known they all have that "take care of me first" attitude. Nothing will change in this town until people get involved and elect NEW people who will think town first. Voting to give more more to the incompetent people running our schools only puts more burden on those already struggling, does nothing to provide better education for our children and will force the selectmen to take funds from other budgeted accounts to pay for all the short-falls when people can't pay their taxes come June. The cycle in Winchester continues, spend beyond our means, take from those who need it most and fill the pockets of those who who only think of themselves. It's too bad the people of Winchester don't take a cue from what's going on in Cairo and demand accountability.

Tea Party Members? said...

Are any of these candidates members of the Tea Party? We desperately need fiscally responsible people joining these committees.

I'm not a Tea party member; but it also doesn't take a rocket scientist to know our town department budgets are over bloated and have been a real source of wasted money in this town for years. I have not seen any real efforts by either the BOS or the Budget Committee to reign in this waste. In fact it's just the opposite, a complete sham to throw taxpayers off. They'll make a small cut here and there and then increase almost the same amount if not more than they cut some where else. Then they simply move money around to give the department heads what they want by robbing from Peter to pay Paul. This has been the norm for many years under the same old regime, they attempt to hide the true cost overruns and then these same employees are rewarded with bonuses and colas every year to keep their mouths shut. It's time to elect some really fiscal responsible people into office and start taking control of thousands of dollars of flagrant wasteful spending. Nothing will change without change and it's up to the people in town to want and demand better and to get out and vote. It's that simple.
