Another Letter To The Editor ( Keene Sentinel )

We've received the following letter which was submitted to the Opinions section of the Keene Sentinel

 Cooked Deal

I just heard that Margarette Shara is suing the town to let her put in a Dollar store on her property in the center of town. She is suing the town and wasting their tax dollars after they voted against it. What does that say about her concern for the citizens of Winchester? But wait there is more dubious things to consider. Sherm Tedford is also pushing for this to go through, rumor has it that he was heard yelling at a town employee after the vote on this issue, telling the person that he was supposed to have voted for them? Now consider this, you have Shara and Tedford, two of the towns top officials pushing this through the system any way they can. Then you have the towns lawyer, who these people have helped get very wealthy over the years going to court to defend the town in a case that two high ranking officials want him to lose...Do you see where this is going? I hope that the towns lawyer is honest and ethical enough to recuse himself from this case, realizing the conflict of interest and I hope that the other selectmen and those on the Historical society who voted against this, demand that they be the ones who chooses the law firm to fight against this cooked deal.

Disregarding the fact Sharra is an elected official...when you have a town employee that is not working in good faith or in the town's best interest or it’s citizens or cause do hardship to certain town citizens or benefit monetarily from his or her position it is time other elected official act to stop this person.. This I believe will happen. Since the town’s registered voters can not and will not get informed to take action and the selectmen who’s duty it is to act accordingly it is time other people voted in a position shell act in their authority.

Writing letters to the paper is useless, people already know what a corrupt little town we have. The only way to lift ourselves up out of the garbage is to elect good people who will work to improve the town, not fill their pockets on our tax dollars. Several people with integrity and a willingness to change things have stepped up in the past; but voters in this town stayed home and let the powers that be continue to drag us down. Let us hope that they will try again and that voters will come out in support of ridding ourselves of those who do the town harm and think only of themselves.

The second comment is so stupid. no decent people have run for anything in this town, they are way to smart for that. You say several people with integrity and willingness to change have run where in the world did you come up with that statement? are you saying that we should vote for Mike Towne and Bob Davis, no way. as the elections prove every year.we dont want these kind of people. the fact is Bob Davis hasnt won any of his last bids he was placed on the budget commitee by being appointed, Talk about a slap in the faces to the voters who said we are done with his rants and raves and voted him off the BC.

I don't think the people in power are stupid, they just have an agenda, and part of that agenda is to keep all the town employees happy. And when the majority of the voters are employees, friends, ans family these are the people that get in and it wont change until the taxpayers have to make a choice between eating or paying there taxes. How many people do you know that work 3 and 4 day weeks, come and go as they please and still have a job?

can see right through you said...

To annonymous who posted at 4:40 this afternoon;

Ok smart guy, just who would you rather have on these boards, the crooked sob's we have now or people like Bob and this Mike Towne who came forward in an attempt to get rid of what's wrong with Winchester. If you ask me you either have a really warped sense of what's right from wrong and/or a personal agenda against these guys to mention their names. There were many others who ran for various positions, why not mention them too? It's people like you who's to blame for the mess this town is in by supporting the cast of characters we have in office now.

I agree with the cart leading the horse theory. In the past we had a road agent allegedly visiting a friend on company time with a company vehicle. A couple of the hwy crew allegedly took things on piney woods rd, again, on company time with a company vehicle. Rumor has it the chief used to haul his camper to a NH fair with the 4x4 cruiser. With the late to work, leave early and extended lunch employees its not hard to tell that keeping the town employees happy is job ONE.Just look at the job that the former water super was doing, with 5 BOS, a town manager and Mr. Gomarlo, and no one could tell. Maybe you need Mr. Davis and Mr. Towne.

We need transparency. Bob Davis or Mike Towne will give the town that. They are not afraid to share information. Novel thought that we as taxpayers might know how our money is being spent. As an accountant I think that is wonderful.
On the other side I would appreciate people who would follow through on problems or questions. For example getting signs that say pedestrian walking so traffic slows down. That is not a happening thing in this town. They do not care if you get hit by a car.

Do what you want but things will not change without a Mike or Bob.
