Fireworks Storage:

From: Larry Holmes

To: M. Sharra; S.Walker

To the ZBA, Planning, Building, Code Enforcement and the Selectmen:

In regards to the hearing for a variance due to hardship for the fireworks storage at the Lawrence property. Correct me if I am wrong, but a hardship would seem to be if there were no other alternatives for the person applying for it? As I have previously mentioned I can see many other viable alternatives and I am willing to take it a step further...

I have a three plus acre parcel of land off of Fairground road. The trees have already been cut and it would not take much to clear it, level it and put in an access driveway where these storage containers could be stored. This land is not near any houses, office or workers and there is a pond there for emergency water. It would be the same road that they would use if they were to store it where they are asking to, so I do not see that the Lawrence's would have an issue with the traffic since they already are willing to accept it. The property is hidden behind the tree lines and cannot be seen from the main road. I would stipulate that they put up a fence and lights. They could even go as far as hiring security to patrol the area (I'm sure that Gene Parks would do it for a reasonable price). And I would donate all of the rent to the Winchester schools to use for their athletic and music departments for the next three years...

"NO COMMENT"!Something of this magnitude that has the possibly to be so catastrophic to the town’s welfare and the safety of neighboring homes that possibility could destroy the enjoyment of people’s property what this storage facility could bring onto this town, we get “NO COMMENT” ! Your thinking it is just storage trailers. You say, I can not see it from my house! It was just a little store selling fire works on N. Main Street that is asking for a variance.

As a town we get this dribble dribble of business coming to Winchester with their Cheshire Cat grins, hand extended, pats on the backs and greasing someone’s palms. They proclaim, we just want to bend the town’s codes and rules to building a little tiny insignificant projects under the false premise to quote “help the town”!

We know what the building codes are they proclaim, we only need this little tiny variance to do our little project and we won’t be a bother to anyone, we will be nice neighbors, we will not make any noise or dirt. When in all reality they helping themselves with bigger plans for the sucker in this town.

We just want a special variance to dig a little tiny bit of gravel , when a few neighbors knew the difference it would require blasting heavy trucks and dust and dirt but the rest of the town stayed quite, or we want to build a little tiny itsy bitsy Mack Truck repair shop. Look now it is a junk yard for Mack trucks and more coming each day. We want to have a little tiny oval dirt bike track and race once a month for the kids, now it is both sides of the road with races all weekend long or race cars long into the night with mud bogs on Sunday without a permit or the we want to build a repair shop on route 10 now it is a giant junk yard for cars.

All you people have to say is ….No comment! When you can no longer enjoy your property and wonder what happened to my peace and quit or what happened the enjoyment of my property or you proclaim it use to be so nice here. Think about this you dump aSSes. This dribble dribble will destroy your property values, your investment, your enjoyment of your property and your tax rates get higher even if you can not see it from your house at this moment .

No Comment! If anyone of you had a half a brain you would be up in arms. On the other hand it just Winchester being Winchester.

"Get over it" is the just the response that can be expected from the average moronic Winchester residents . You’re the average of this town’s citizens with your mental midget thinking. You and a lot like you are suffering from significant learning difficulties and impaired social skill if this the way you think. A product of Dennis Litsky and the Winchester School system.

You should run for the planning board if your not already a elected member. Are you Larry Hill or Margaret Sharra or Dean Beaman by any chance posting anonymously? Maybe you should run for selectmen if your not already one. Are you Ken Gardner or Sherman Tedford posting anonymously?

Maybe all the people with a vision for the town should move away and let the crazies run asylum. That comment of yours “why don’t you leave” is such a lame dimwitted statement only because your so narrow minded.

The statement of a past poster “if fools could fly Winchester would be an airport”!

I reviewed the videos noted in these threads and the power of the explosions make me very worried for the nearby school. Just the sound and earth shaking would scare the children to no end, should the worst happen. Does the school board know of this plan? I think they should be notified quickly. As for the neighbors, I fear for your safety. There should not be storage in Winchester.

Get a life said...

I'm not a selectman and I'm not on the planning board, I'm just someone smart enough to not buy my house on a highway were I know things like this will be built.
You are as senseless and as foolish as people who buy a house near a airport or train tracks and then complain about the noise and disruption.
Go get a life and go find something important to cry about.

Why is it that people not affected by the dubious decisions made in this town always crow the loudest how smart there are not to live next to these types of things. will you still be crowing when the next dumb ass thing gets approved in this one horse town in your backyard? Or are you part of this narrow minded grifter group that benefits above their pay scale?

To the poster above;
You must have hit a nerve with your comment about the greedy people running this town. Just think what our tax base would be and what the strip along route 10 would look like with a WalMart super store and a Market Basket and perhaps a Technical Business park where that outdoor Motocross waste of space is? Really poor decisions allowing what we have out there now and from what I hear none of those businesses even pay their taxes to the town.

Hello Larry! Don’t you get it? It could be the perfect place to store fireworks but your not one of the guys, the loop, the circle of friends, a cronies. You have been a thorn in Gus Ruth side for a long time. Gus Ruth and the selectmen do not care about the schools get it! All they care is about themselves and their circle of friends. Now if you were to donate the property to the fuzzy face, plaid shirt, tree hugging, land grabbing friends of the beaver..... Beaver Dam Gus Ruth. Then the Conservation Committee could turn it into conservation land wet lands then they could put a storage facility their plus Gus and Margaret could invite some more of their Conn friends to town to put another motocross racetrack built on town conservation land just like the one on route 10.

Excuse me poster on 11/3 you may make fun of Dennis Litsky but he has a PhD in Education. Also, while he was here our children learned and we did not have the SPED budget that we do now. Obviously he empowered the teachers and the students to learn. Students were required to show what they knew. Novel thought as now the new standards in Core Curriculum require portfolios. Hmm, Litsky did that and more. No, I did not teach under him but you can damn well bet that most of the students that we would say were "SPED" got jobs and are performing in society. Take your attitude about Litsky and stuff it.

Sorry for this post being so far from the subject, but no one ever divided the town like someone so controversial that was provoking strong arguments pro and con about Dennis Litsky but I wrote it and now I defend it.

Your quote "Dennis Litsky did that and more"! I’ll say he did that and a lot more! A lot more! Mr. or Ms. Blog Poster.....I’m sorry to tarnish your Dennis Litsky on a pedestal on top of your mantel or rain on your Dennis Litsky parade but small towns have eyes and ears. I have been at parties where Dennis Litsky attended. I know he only to well. Dennis had a PhD alright....in profanity.

What kind of an education was given when 7 girls got pregnant on the class trip. How about Dennis’ # 1 chaperone Henry Parkhurst setting in the hall with a chair and a half gallon of whiskey telling the kids play nice or jogging around town and stopping by another man home to visit with his wife when he wasn’t home ( witnessed this myself) coming out of the man’s house all sweat.. What does it say about his moral character? How about a school principle that would use profanity when describing my daughter in the principle office.

You can dust off your Dennis Litsky on your pedestal, and I'll will remember the moral decay he bestowed upon the town. So take YOUR bronze Dennis Litsky on a pedestal and cam it where the sun does not shine. Some people still remembers the truth about Dennis Litsky with a PhD.

We can hash out why this town is so messed up for days and weeks on end but it all comes down to the lack of leadership by our select board. They have allowed a dysfunctional planning board, led by Margaret Sharra, Gus Ruth, Larry Hill, Dean Beaman and Margaret's hand picked puppets to turn our town into a waste land. Nearly every vote is decided by a 4-3 margin by this group proving that this small twisted narrow minded bunch will get your project approved no matter what. The select board has appointed a bunch on the zoning board that haven't a clue and who will vote as they are told. C'mon John Pasqarelli? This guy should be in jail, not voting on what businesses are allowed and what waivers they shall receive.
Speaking of waivers, both boards hand them out like candy on Halloween. Every business that has come here has asked and received exemptions from the town's laws regarding lot size, building codes, etc. You name it, Winchester will allow it all in the name of lowering our taxes; but wait, have our taxes gone down , just the opposite. Fact is lots of businesses in this town don't even pay their taxes, check the tax roles.
Until people in this town wise up, which is another debatable topic, Winchester will continue to be a hole in the ground that attracts the wrong type of business, be led by unscrupulous, self serving liars and continue to be the laughing stock of the county.
There is little concern for what's right in this town because of the apathy of it's people who won't get involved and don't have any pride in themselves or their community, exactly what those running this town rely on year after year, thus allowing them to live off the fruits of others and continue doing the things that line their own pockets. They have been slowly destroying the town we all live in.
Proof of my statements you ask, how about lawsuit after lawsuit filed year after year, 17 of them pending today and you can bet before the year is over they'll be more. Hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars have been wasted defending the actions of these people in court, all wasted tax dollars and all because of the same few people every year. Wise up people of Winchester, you're getting fleeced by people you consider your friends. Make no mistake, these people only care about themselves and staying in power, because once they get voted out and new people start poking around, the proverbial shyt is going to hit the fan when light is brought to all of the underhanded illegal business that has been going on with them at the helm. Make no mistake, the future of Winchester is in your hands, course with a bunch of trailers loaded with high explosives parked in the middle of town there may be no town to care about should something happen.
But who cares, right?

If you are going to write about someone please have the decency to spell the man's name correct:

I think all the dust from blasting, and spent race fuel in the air is having a negative effect on people's rationale.
It goes from the idiot's running and policing this town to a 'riot scene mentality'. One person throws a punch and then every idiot in striking range joins in. You have a huge crowd fighting and not one person could be pulled from the crowd and give a legitimate reason why.
Kind of like the Prophet Mohamed B.S.
Politics in this town is putting neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend. Seems like if you can't beat the system, then beat each other. That IS and always HAS been a major set back for this town. Winchester is not just a political mess, but is quickly becoming a community mess as well. Take the fight to the enemy, not to the people who share the same frustrations, but present it in words of their own, not yours specifically. We are all frustrated and will remain so until we have proper leadership to reunite the community. Just imagine the Patriots having a brawl in their locker room, then coming out and having their a$$'s handed to them by the jets. Same philosophy.

0t0nThe topic of fireworks storage has certainly taken a few twists and turns. Fireworks, can certainly be very dangerous, and where they are stored certainly is extremely important. The race to keep up with Hinsdale's lead in allowing stores that sell fireworks, has obviously led the selectmen to make questionable decisions. The apparatus for storage of fireworks should be much more that trailers/containers. That they were stored on town property should be an indictment of poor decision making on the town fathers part. It is not all that uncommon around the world to hear of fatalities with regards to fireworks explosions. If the boards were at all concerned about the issue, then it would be a very expensive proposition to even think about storing fireworks in Winchester.

Obviously without decent leadership, Winchester will remain frustrated, divided, and poor.

No! You would not!

Sick of morons said...

To the commenter above; What in hell makes you an authority on someone else? The man has stated in wring he would do this. You gotta be some kind of an idiot to say what you did. Too bad Winchester is just filled with people like you who are always saying things about those who are making an attempt to better our town. No wonder no one decent wants to run for anything and those few who have have given up trying. Who wants to represent idiots that just don't care?

also fed up with morons said...

So true, there's a small group of town supporters who will say and do anything to keep in favor of the liars and be as disruptive as they can be on this blog trying to do their best to sway attention from the real problems we have in this town .. no accountability by those we have elected. This is a prime example with some moronic imbecile commenting about something he/she can't possibly know until it happens, but runs their mouth anyways.

Scratching my head said...

Ah, excuse me Larry - but your property is over the town's aquifer. You should not be storing fireworks on it!

I would not be surprised if the ZBA was too stupid to make note of that fact.

The Asphalt Plant is a good example of how retarded the board is!

Anonymous said...

They do what they are told to do, just look who the selectmen have hand picked to be on that board. The ZBA should consist of elected officials, not cronies and friends, but that is another problem we have in this town. It's all about control.

Scratching my head said...

Not the entire ZBA as a whole - but yes, John P stands out like a sore thumb. What are his qualifications exactly? Construction? Litigation? College Education?

Anonymous said...

How come we no reports coming from what is going on at the budget committee?

Anonymous said...

With the budget committee majority hand picked by the selectmen, I'm not sure we want to know.

here's the truth said...

Because the cupcakes that have been voted into these elected positions and then put in charge by manipulation by the selectmen have gone alone with the censorship policies established in this town Since Joan Morell has come and teamed up with Gus, Sherm, Roberta, Ken and Theresa to make sure that only what they want us to know and hear comes directly from her is it any wonder?
There is no openness in Winchester town government and won't ever be until this people are voted out of office. That's hard to do when they control the elections and people in this town sit on their asses and refuse to go to the polls.

stick to the facts said...

ummmm actually its because there has been no Budget Committee meeting lately to report on.
Lets get the facts straight here people.
Although you should be curious why there has been no meeting?

Anonymous said...

The selectmen have a certain group of followers that are mesmerized by their foolery who can not think beyond their ignorance. Only way they get elected is, this group of followers are out for something for nothing, it is beyond belief that they would rather keep these clowns in office while paying higher and higher taxes bills. The same idiots that support the selectmen return their support in-kind for the school.

Time to wake up said...

This may not be the subject of this blog but the taxpayers that just got a smaller bill then they expected have the people no one likes, like Bob Davis and Brian Moser to thank. Wait until next year when the hand picked people on the boards stick it you, maybe it will open a few eyes.

Anonymous said...

I think if you asked Brian and Bob they would tell you that they didn't make the change to your tax bill. It was the voters that did. The voters showed up at deliberative and voted to make a change. Hopefully we will get a similar turn out this year at deliberative.

Anonymous said...

If you ask Brian or Bob there is a possibility they would say they gave voter hope, hope something would be done about the town’s trusted elected officals and employee who think they are entitled to waste our tax dollars.
