Removing Political Signs is Childish and Against The Law

This is a message to the childish person(s) going around town tearing down the signs of the candidates running for town elections.  It would seem that some of the incumbents and/or their supporters are worried about their positions and that they may come out on the short end come March 9th. We have received reports of several of the new people running for office have had their signs removed from where they place them.

Grow Up, Stop Being So Childish

Removing the signs that someone paid for to announce their candidacy is against the law and punishable by a fine if you are caught. To stoop so low as to tear down someone's political sign really shows just how low someone will go to to get re-elected.

Police Report Recall said...

Somebody ought to ask Gus Ruth. I recall reading on this blog there is a police report at the WPD for the very same activity the last time he ran for office.

Maybe the Chief can question him and his wife to make sure it isn't them.

It's a shame that the truth of the matter is that Ruth's wife did steal a sign and that there really is a police report to prove and verify that it happened.

I guess that's the caliber of the town officials we have elected. No one to blame but ourselves.

Don't feel alone Kim, someone seems to like mine too. Maybe we have some secret admirers or perhaps it's a rival afraid they might lose if people see they have a choice between a brighter future or just more of the same.

Typical Winchester bs, Kim. Just one more thing wrong with this town and this they can't blame on our kids or this site.

This thing happens every year when someone new runs against the old guard. They'll stop at nothing to stay on the gravy train, don't let it bother you two, the town has eyes and we're watching.

The Dynasty at the town hall must really be feeling the heat of being threatened with challenges from the new comers running for offices this year. New comers with a message..... "We have become tired of you not listening to the people and your secrecy and concealment of the real truth about the financial condition of our town." How the people we entrusted, have dangerously lowered our town reserve money to falsely lower our tax rate to make themselves look good and put our town at risk doing it.

Turn on the news any day and hear how tax payers are fed-up! Unlike us in Winchester with The Dynasty’s control of our tax dollars, other towns are making cuts in spending and laying off personnel. If it wasn’t for the Informer, The Dynasty would still keep wasting our tax money. The Dynasty doesn’t appreciate challenges to it's overbearing authority and are resorting to dirty tricks again. Dirty tricks are nothing new for some of these people, like taking our signs down. Dirty tricks like Gus Ruth’s wife parking her car in front of the town hall so Terry Qualters couldn’t park his truck there last year with a sign that had a message on it. {that message must have really hurt some}. There is a law against over night parking; yet that car sat there for days. Then Henry Parkhurst replaced her car with his car. Do you all remember when Mrs. Ruth was caught taking down one of Terry Qualters signs and he called the police? Yes. dirty tricks and underhandedness, it's all part of the game plan. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how badly they want to keep control of our town and what measures they will stoop to.

Sorry about that, I wasn't accusing anyone specifically, just venting to the fact I have lost over $25 worth of signs I put up with the help of my sons at various locations around town. Signs aren't cheap and having someone maliciously come along and tear them down is very frustrating.

Kim,
Not only is it contemptuous meaning a strong dislike and utter lack of respect for someone rights to run for public office, but it is against the law.

Typical behavior of some in office now and their immediate families. No one likes to lose a cushy job especially when you don't have to work at it, or even be qualified to do the work. Too much favoritism when it comes to electing and appointing people for office. The results are what we have now, a total mess and too much spending.

Once again, nearly all the signs put up announcing my candidacy were missing. I imagine the wind last night got a few of them; however I don't think the wind removed the stakes too as they were driven into the ground. As Kim Gordon mentioned above, these signs weren't freebies, they cost me a good amount of money and I don't know about the rest of you but I hate wasting money because some foolish imbecile(s) can't leave someone else's property alone.

My message to those having their fun;
If you don't like me, fine. If you have issues you'd like to discuss with me, give me a call or come by.
You won't deter me from running for office, nor will your childish and immature behavior have any effect on me attempting to make Winchester a better town for all of us and that includes you, the person(s) responsible for removing my signs.

It's pretty sad when the best that the incumbents can do is hope to win by playing childish games themselves or through their supporters.

It speaks loud and clear that they are so afraid of being exposed that nothing will stop them from keeping the secrets in.

Once the first house falls they will all fall.

Who are all of the new people running for offices?

re: Above poster asking who are all the "new people" running for office?

There certainly are some relatively UNKNOWN's on the ballot. Hopefully, they, and you, will come to MEET THE CANDIDATES forum at the town hall next sunday, March 7th. Not sure of the time.

I commend bloggers for not gettng caught up in any furthering personal attacks related to the sign stealing. When I inquired into this I found out that at least one of Mr. Ruth's signs was taken and duplicated with negative material added one of which was removed because of its negative content. I am happy to see that the site is focusing on issues not attacks and look forward to Mr. Moser's discussion on the ballot.

Boy, you know someone is nervous about the election, when ALL of your signs disapear! At this point, it's well over $100 worth. It's obvious to me that it is someone who doesn't have a lot of respect for the LAW.

At this point, I would have no qualms about pressing charges.

Mike Towne said...

You're right Kim, this has really gotten out of hand. It is obvious that this has become a consertive effort and quite possibly has something to do with our candidacy for the Planning Board. Just about all of my signs have been taken down around the downtown area too. Out of 34 signs put up around town, I only counted 6 still up this morning. I too will formally press charges and am going to file a complaint with the Police Dept. this morning. This is really childish and disgraceful behavior and just another black eye for Winchester that people would stoop so low in their efforts to remain in office.

How come Teresa Sepe, Gus Ruth and Kevin Whippie signs haven't suffered the same fate? You don't suppose it's Gus's wife Irene acting up again do you?

A theft report has been filed with the Winchester PD. by those of us that are missing many signs.
