TAKING A STAND .. OPEN TOWN POSITIONS

Civic-minded said...

Well, folks, if you don't like the way things are and want to make a change, here is your opportunity. There are over a dozen town offices open for new folks to fill.

According to the town's website,
"FILING FOR TOWN OFFICES -starts Wednesday, January 20, 2016 and ends Friday, January 29, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. The Clerk’s office will be open on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. (no other business will be transacted during this time).
Board of Selectmen – two (three year terms)
Planning Board – two (three year term)
Trustee of Trust Funds – one (three year term)
Conant Library Trustee – three (three year terms)
Conant Library Trustee – one (one year term)
Thayer Library Trustee – two (three year terms)
Thayer Library Trustee – one (one year term)
Supervisor of the Checklist – one (three year term)
Musterfield/Cemetery – one (three year term)
Moderator – one (two year term)
Town Clerk/Tax Collector – one (three year term)"

Let's take a stand and elect folks who care more about this town than lining their own pockets (or those of their relatives).

With Berthiaume resigning, do we elect 3 selectmen or does the current board appoint someone? Hopefully we elect, because there isn't a lot of trust with most of board we have now.

To determine who has authority to fill a vacancy, look for a statute that relates to that specific position. For most municipal positions, see RSA 669:61 through :75. For example, RSA 669:63 states that a vacancy on the board of selectmen is filled by the remaining members of the board, and if they fail to fill the position, a petition may be filed with the superior court to fill the vacancy.

So yes, they will appoint someone to fill his position. Wouldn't be surprised to see Sherman Tedford in for him.

If they appoint Sherm after his big loss last year, it would be like sticking a finger in the eye of the voters of this town.

They should take the next person that placed in last years race. Hopefully they will do the right thing.

Another 3 day work week for the chosen few, just saying

They can appoint to serve out the rest of that year's term but then that person has to run

I think they will appoint Sharra's daughter

Citizens awaken from your slumber!
Don't let this opportunity to overhaul the corrupt cemetery cabal pass!
Get out and vote.
There will be many positions with no applicants...write in Mr Parkhurst...it's about time he did some work for this town!
Incumbents will be the only ones running. Who wants the aggravation of these thankl jobs?
Who wants to be mercilessly mocked on this blog?!

To Pessimist,
You must have been in your own slumber not to notice all that Mr. Parkhurst has done, over many decades, for this town.
Where were you when Mr. Parkhurst bought teddy bears, year after year, for the town's children at the ELM CC summer camp? Where were you when Mr. Parkhurst taught hundreds of Winchester residents to swim, with the Red Cross Swimming Lessons, at Forest Lake. He had the patience of a saint to do that every year and for a stipend, at that. He has moderated over the years. He has substituted following retiring. He has been our State Rep. We should all wish and pray we could be so productive and be of service our life long. We love Mr. Pickle because we respect Mr. Parkhurst. It's solid respect from a lifetime of service. Lay off Mr. Parkhurst. Learn by his example.

I would not want to pick on Mr. Parkhurst, but sainthood is a little out there. Time for Winchester to send someone else to Concord in my opinion.

You must have been in a slumber or stupor when Mr Pickle Parkhurst screw Mrs. Prentiss a wonderful school teacher for years out of her family home then placed her in a nursing home.. You must have been in a slumber or stupor when 22 charges alleged charges to the secretary of state for voters infractions on voter fraud when Pickle Parkhurst was town moderator.. You must have been in a slumber or a stupor when Pickle Parkhurst chaperoned the senior class trip. Parkhurst sat in the chair in the hallway with a half gallon of Jim Bean and told the children to play nice. You must have been in a slumber or a stupor when if I remember right 3 girls got pregnant on the trip. Mr Righteous my But!

How do you know three girls "got pregnant" on that class trip? So you let it happen as well? Are you another that chooses to do nothing, then complain that another doesn't do it your way? You toss a few charges with no evidence, so typical.....

My post was in response to a do-gooder who thinks Pickle Parkhurst should be voted into sainthood. I really do not know how to respond to your, such a dumb post, but I did do something! I wouldn’t let my daughter go on the trip. I knew exactly how this liberals aka libtards work. If you knew a some how a low budget move maker made a movie of the Winchester Thayer High School fiasco about a pot smoking Thayer HS principle and the girls that got pregnant on the school trip. Pickle Parkhurst was right in the middle of it……………………….

.. ”there are none so blind as those who will not to see!”

Maybe your another of Pickle Parkhurst’s delusional followers.

To Anonymous,
I don't mind being called a "do-gooder," but you misquoted me for your own purposes. I said Mr. Parkhurst had the patience of a saint, because I remember how he was so good with all the children who were learning to swim for the first time. I think it is wise to have protected your daughter if you thought, or knew, she wouldn't be safe for any reason on the trip. I would do the same, I'm sure. Have a good day.
