More spending proposed

Do any of them have a clue that we are in a recession and can not afford to keep paying higher and higher taxes for the privilege of living in this town with no services, big spenders and overpaid school and town employees? I hope you all vote no like I am going to do if these warrant spending articles go on the ballot. Enough already with high taxes.

Another taxpayer funded police position? Just because we get a grant to cover some of the cost for a couple of years doesn’t mean it’s free. It costs us during those years and after the grant is done and we’re getting nothing. What about cruisers and guns and everything else? Who’s gonna foot the bill for all the extras? The Taxpayers that’s who. And how do we justify we even need another officer? Isn’t the Regional Prosecutor charge based on how many cases are processed through it? It doesn’t look like the county is prosecuting any more cases for Winchester than they were when they joined the program but now we have all these extra police. Where’s the numbers to support this? Maybe they’re padding the numbers while screwing the taxpayer. A bunch of incompetents that’s what we’re left with.

How do we suspend selectmen? They are the main problem in this town. They need to go the whole lot of them.

what a mess said...

What a freaking dysfunctional town we live in. If it isn't the damn school administration sticking it to us it's the morons on the select board and now even the police dept is a wreck..I say the whole lot of them need to go, top to bottom otherwise we never get rid of the stranglehold they have and we keep spiraling down. So glad we have this blog to provide us with information.

We got Parker on a grant to be the school resource officer, But she is the only one I ever see patrolling our roads and actually working. Is the pd misusing the grant? I swear most of the time it looks like she is the only officer we have working, or they cloned her. What does Roberts actually do? do we really need him and the Chief hanging inside the station? Shouldn't he be out patrolling and being useful?

Audit the PD. Check their calls for service and the actual time spent per call. Check the plea rate as opposed to convictions on all the arrests made. Check the patrol logs and match them to random calls for service. Gene Parks bragged he had 700 animal complaint calls last year. Hell, the Miami Animal Control doesn't get that many calls. Gene Parks is restricted to dog complaints not cat calls, rat calls ( I mean the animal not the rats working for the town). I wouldn't insult the animal like that even though they are much like the town employees. Check your day shift scheduling for over staffing and compare the logs against actual police work not checking finances on the computer or searching Craig's list for deals or soliciting donations. You want to prevent crime? Try increasing patrols and high visibility, community and business interaction on a daily basis. These are tried and true techniques. You do not deter crime sitting on your ass in the PD. Your PD is top heavy, too many supervisors. You have eight officers not counting the part-timers, not that they work enough to be counted- and you have a Chief, LT. and two Sergeants, one for patrol( ha, ha, ha,) and one for the Detective division again,( ha, ha, ha,). The patrol Sergeant supervises who?...himself and the occasional officer who happens to be working the same shift. Your detective division, what a farce, The PD is not big enough for such a position. Phillips has snowed the town for so long that everyone believes his statistics. Research his stats , compare them to the grant money for special traffic details as opposed to actual patrol time and you will find that the officers are motivated by money, not community dedication and commitment. Do the research, consult with former officers who know how to read through the bull and down size the pd. Hell, even Richie Pratt, not that his opinion matters, says the PD can run with five officers and the part-timers you have. I am inclined to agree with him. Remember this, Phillips is hellbent on getting ten officers to form a union as he did in Jaffrey and he is doing a pretty good job at getting closer and closer to that number. Although he cannot participate in a union, a union will negotiate for better pay and benefits and he will ultimate be compensate accordingly through the contracts should they get a union. If anyone is interested in guidance as to how to get the necessary info regarding these issues contact Mr.Towne through the informer with your info and contact number and he can contact this writer who will then contact those who are so inclined to move forward. All contacts will be kept confidential. What are you waiting for.
