Regional turnout of registered voters for last nights primary

Seems not many in Winchester care about anything these days, though the numbers are nearly twice as high than the turnout for the town elections ...

"Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups!"

The same old speech, if you don't like it move. This town should be a shamed of itself. No wonder we have a bottom of the barrel reputation.

I am surly ashamed of myself for personally dragging the town’s reputation down, with it’s particular outstanding good qualities and attributes. I personally apologize for how Main Street looks, how the school turns out some of the lowest test scores, the morons we elect into office, the corruption at the town hall, the corruption of our police dept. the impression of a impoverish town as one drives south into town, the gravel pits, the junk yards, the racetracks.

Do you think the kind folks of Winchester would ever forgive me for my actions. “I could explain it to you, but I can’t understand it for you! “

My advise to you is, “Be careful when you follow the masses to close. Sometime the ”M” falls
Off!”

Also while your living the dream in Winchester & your happy and you know it! Clap your hands!

As I tell anyone who asks,,,,,,,,,,, if you don't run for office. vote or attend deliberative sesions or town meeting................. don't bitch or expect different results. We have lots of nouveau riche with brains in "dem dere hills", moving to town but you never see them. At least there seem to be more younger folks coming forth to run. Good luck to them.

Good luck! said...

It is up to the people that have allowed this situation here in Winchester being run by these greedy SOBs. People in the past have tried to stand-up and speak-out only to get beaten down, made a mockery of or made a fool of. How can one person speak out, attend deliberative session, or run for office. It takes many to take control. These silent citizen wouldn’t back anyone or to help themselves. You people say, "he is an idiot" and go back and sit on your hands. No one can expects outsiders to solve our problems what has been allowed for years to manifest , or expect one person to take on the entrenched relentless insensitive S.O.B.s that run this town. The silence of the good people are allowing themselves to be ruled by a small minority of 35 to 40 special interest families and the town employees. They make the rules and tell you what hour taxes will be!

You can not expect the silence of good people to just spring up and start speak out. This town is a impoverish, depressed by it‘s high tax rate were residence are to busy trying pay taxes to keep their homes. Now small minded fire chief wants a new shiny fire truck (to maybe get a cash kick back on like the last one we bought), just to parade around like he is some big city fire chief. Huh! He doesn't even own property in town or pay taxes. SUCKERS

Napoleon quoted, “the world suffers a lot, not because of violence of bad people, But because of the silence of good people.

I'm tired of people posting that good candidates have run in the past and no one supported them or voted for them. Maybe you should look at it this way, NO decent candidates have run for election in the past. You blaming voters for being silent or sitting on their hands is false rhetoric. Maybe voters saw through these other candidates hidden agendas or temper tantrums and said "no thank you".

Neighbor can I come in to visit, are you decent? said...

Your like the farmer, who's out standing in your fields. I am sorry for making you tired of morons like me posting the truth. OH! How the truth hurts. Hee Haw! Could you explain what you mean by "no decent people have fun for election in the past?" I know many I thought was decent and voted for them, they did not get elected. I guess they weren't decent enough. What is your standard for "decent?" Do these un-decent live on the bad side of the railroad tracks, are their homes substandard, do they wear funny clothes or maybe these people name their kids after Disney characters and fruit. I never thought of myself to be brilliant, but I thought I was doing good in school when I pasted my father in the fifth grade.

If I were to run for office I probably wouldn't be decent enough for you because I do not live in a trailer, I am not drinking at the VFW every night, I pay my taxes on time, I do not run around on my wife, I do not except welfare, food stamps, heating assistance. Opinion are like A-holes everyone has one. Some have two if you include the spouse.

Ok, Name these good candidates that voters let down. This may just be easier than this senseless back and forth. You say good candidates ran and lost, I say I must have missed these people. Problem with running for BOS, people well qualified for this position, are just to smart to want it, Its a serious problem.

It would not be fair to name these people I felt had good intentions to become candidates for office that took the time to register for office, thinking people like you needed their help, who were defeated at the polls because of uninformed voters, it’s not these people’s fault the only way your able to choose someone for office is by name recognition and not by their personal accomplishments or take the time to learn from them. It is not these people’s fault they were up against the most corrupt electoral system know to mankind, requiring 15 people to file 22 charges of corruption to the Secretary of State’s office. It is not there fault charges were never investigated because a State House Representative Parkhurst was right in the middle of it. It is not these people’s fault you preferred to vote for a felon, a tax evader, submissive hussy with no self-restraint and a graduate of the Brattleboro Retreat. Or the just plain idiots or the beaver dam owner that destroyed 2 bridges and 3 road and covered it up "And You" call them decent people.

Yes I stand-by the un-decent people of my choosing. Your comment these other people who have no desire to run are just to smart to want it, they’re to smart to go up against the pigs that run the town hall Animal Farm. I voted for people that took a chance by running for office and having there political signs along the highways torn down by your so called decent people.

“We have taken a long vacation from truth so as not to offend people who think nothing of elected officials lying to us“!

Ummm, wake up. Show me where I called any of the current or past Select board "decent" You seem a little confused and cant follow along. My comment was, I have never seen any Decent, as in, qualified or someone who had a good plan, someone who didn't themselves have some kind of personal agenda, run for Select board or any other board in past years. A strong desire to replace current BOS doesn't mean we put people in those seats that are actually worse, does it?

The last word! said...

I to feel ashamed for my lack of attention span here and not keeping up, I must have lost my attention span when I felling off the turnip cart.

There goes those words of yours like Decent, now you have added qualified, good plan or a personal agenda. I still refuse to believe some of the people that ran for office and didn’t get elected in your book, weren’t decent, qualified or had a good plan. I refuse to believe you haven’t voted at all in the past years because you haven‘t seen anyone decent. Let’s assume you did vote for the present selectmen board, and while you voted your opinion came to the conclusion each and everyone were decent, qualified and had a good plan without an agenda. As I described above each and almost every selectperson that is on the board have a dark side who are not decent, but corrupt, have an agenda, you must have voted for at least one. You must take me for a nin-cow-poop to believe you. This year we have more people running for selectmen then in the past. Hope you find some of them decent, qualified with a plan or maybe or next time to please you we will have to run people like Saint Mr. Pickle Parkhurst.

“ I try to put all the town hall Bull$h!t in context then I can not control my thoughts. Only four letter words come to mind to describe their actions.

The Time is Now said...

There are some good candidates running for selectmen this year and if anyone reading this wants to see a change of direction do what you can to get out the vote, because you can bet the people that don't want change will be working hard to keep the status quo.

Where do they stand? said...

Would be nice to have a "Meet the Candidates" event to find out where these folks stand on the issues pertinent to our town. I know a couple of them, but have not had the pleasure of meeting the others. Even if they each just wrote out a brief statement of their position and ideas for the town's growth and development and posted the statement at Town Hall or the Post Office it would be helpful.

Used to be a Meet and Greet the Candidates session put on by the Grange; however seems the powers that be ( most members of ) don't like competition when it comes to keeping their seats. Voters in this town don't care who's running for what, they vote for the people they know no matter who is running. The same dozen people have a stranglehold on most of the positions on our boards and committees year after year and will do anything it takes to keep them. The Interest Forms are an absolute joke as no matter who fills one out, if you are not a friend or relative of the people already in office you will not be chosen. Do a little fact checking and you'll see how things are done in this town. We have one person that holds at least 5 different positions and has family members that hold 2 more. So much for diversity and qualified employees. Nepotism at it's ugliest.
When people don't pay attention and keep up with the issues that affect us all, we end up with exactly what we have, a dead, go no where town, with high taxes to pay for the whims of a small group of people who think they are large frogs in a small pond .. lots of noise and bluster, no integrity or any accomplishments of substance for our money.

Meet the Candidates was a good IDEA...however, I remember only about 20 townspeople and only a few candidates. That's why the word hopeless exists, to describe Winchester. 30 years, 30 elections. The big voter turnout will always be teachers and incumbents and their families and friends. They are the core voters.

There is a meet the candidates night this year. It's Monday the 29th at 5:30 at the school. I have herd that most of the candidates are going to be there. Come and ask the questions you have. Lets see if there are any "Decent" ones running. Also in my own opinion, if you don't vote because you don't like any of the candidates, how can you also complain about the way things are going? Change starts with voting for something different than the same old thing. Get out and vote and you can help change the majority.
