Board of Selectman's Meeting Wednesday June 29th, 2011

This coming Wednesday evening the BOS will be hearing testimony from two of our state representatives in regards to the proposed asphalt plant being constructed on the grounds of the old P&G gravel pit. They will speak out about the hazards to the people in the area and the effects it will have on the lives of residents of Winchester and Swanzey.

We ask that all those who oppose this project please attend and voice your concerns and support the efforts of our state reps to convince the BOS that this proposed project not be allowed to go forward.

The DES had until last Friday, June 23rd to make a decision on the concerns of the people who attended the earlier hearings and who wrote letters to the department. No answers have been received from the Board of Air Quality yet and there is a window of 10 days to file an appeal of any decision that is handed down.

THIS MEETING HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL JULY 6TH-NO MEETING TOMORROW NIGHT

DES WILL GRANT MITCHELL A TEMPORARY PERMIT JULY 5TH WHICH WILL BE GOOD FOR 18 MONTHS TO SEE IF THEY ARE WITHIN AIR QUALITY STANDARDS BEFORE A FINAL PERMIT IS ISSUED.

AN APPEAL OF THEIR DECISION WILL BE FILED WITHIN THE 10 DAY WINDOW

What could the Board of Selectman do anyway? Seems like a waste of time to attend this meeting.

maybe our Board could or would not do anything........... as often happens but if the State is aware and hears people, maybe just maybe the state will do something!!!!!!

Why is the meeting cancelled? I can think of 2 reasons 1.-the selectmen do not want to answer questions about the shooting and that is correct they should not and 2.-the most important they might have to admit that they made a mistake is issuing this permit and of course Mr. Mitchell gets his permit by default the 5th comes before the 6th. Nice work board! Maggie and Gus should be very proud of themselves they once again have figured out how to beat the system and put the blame elsewhere. The slippery slope and lack of integrity prevails once again.

The BOS has decided that they will only meet 4 times during a month which has 5 weeks instead of every Wednesday as was the past protocol.

Guess nothing goes on in town during that week that the BOS should be concerned with; like citizen complaints or concerns, emergency expenditures, town business etc. I guess they are just too busy doing other things than to perform their duties weekly as specified in the Town Charter.

I tell ya, they will keep postponing stuff till they have the crown they need/want to pass things their way...
They don't want to answer questions that many people in town that are showing up want answers to. For some reason, we think they answer to us... foolish us...

Cancelled I am sure because the state might have heard what is REALLY happening in this town.

The Selectmen are now refusing to hear from state representatives Carr and Johnson or any other parties in regards to the proposed Mitchell asphalt plant. Citing and hiding behind an RSA instead of being fair minded and hearing concerns, they have elected to throw the matter to the Planning Board. We all know how that's going to come out as they have previously ignored the concerns and mounds of evidence submitted to them. Anyone with a lick of common sense can see where this is going to end up. Barton Mayer must be dancing in the street.

What RSA? When our State Representatives elected by the people for the people cannot speak before the town Board of Selectmen on an issue? What is wrong here?

Anyone seen any selectmen's minutes in the last two week. Boy these 3 and 4 day work weeks are working out well. Why are we being kept in the dark.
